Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After fasting all night, the body needs nutrients first thing in the morning to get your metabolism rolling. But we can’t just eat anything for breakfast.
The typical American breakfast- a coffee filled with sweetener paired with a bagel or donut is a TERRIBLE choice. This meal won’t even keep you full until lunch and it definitely is not good for your health. Eating toast, a bagel, a muffin, cereal or any other sugar filled food for breakfast causes the blood sugar to spike instantly. A couple hours later, when the blood sugar drops you find yourself hungry and consuming MORE calories. Not only are these foods bad for your blood sugar, but they cause you to crave more and more sweet foods.
We need to cut the sweet craving!
Eggs are a great choice for breakfast. They are an excellent source of protein that stabilizes the blood sugar.
Fruit is another great breakfast. It tastes sweet from the natural sugar but contains fiber to help keep you feeling full until lunch.
Smoothies and smoothie bowls are a great way to get tons of fruits and vegetables first thing in the morning.
Be creative with your breakfast. Make them colorful and taste yummy!
