Preventing Disease

I was recently reading an article about how to ease Lyme Disease symptoms. Lyme Disease has been mentioned more and more in the last year. The information the article provided about how to ease Lyme symptoms applies to more than just Lyme Disease. This information should be part of your everyday lifestyle in order to prevent all diseases. So let me share with you 4 things to start doing daily.

1. Avoid sugar. Sugar feeds bacteria. It makes infections worse. Sugar causes inflammation. Inflammation is the root cause of all diseases. Sugar is found in many processed foods and drinks. Sugar is also hidden in salad dressings, sauces and protein bars/powders.

2. Fill up on greens. Green vegetables are so beneficial to the overall health of the body. They provide the liver with nutrients needed to remove toxins from the body. Removing toxins decreases inflammation in the body and gives the immune system a chance to rest.

3. Take care of your gut. 80% of your immune system is in your gut. Your body needs good bacteria to breakdown food and absorb nutrients. Diets high in refined sugars and processed foods damage the good bacteria in the gut, making it difficult to absorb nutrients. Probiotics, bone broth and fermented foods are a good for the overall gut health.

4. Get some sunshine. Vitamin D is an important anti-inflammatory nutrient in the body and it plays a major role in the immune system. Aim for 20 minutes of sunshine a day so your body can produce its own vitamin D.

It’s time to be PROACTIVE instead of reactive. Let’s prevent the problem before it even begins to develop.
